Beneduce Vineyards

(908) 996-3823  |  beneducevineyards.com

Wine has been made and enjoyed by people from all walks of life for over 5,000 years, and we’re bringing it back to its roots. As one of NJ’s newest wineries, we’re working hard to provide you with a truly unique experience along with incredible wine. Our winemaker, Mike Beneduce, majored in Viticulture and Enology at Cornell University and combines his vast knowledge with his passion for wine. While Beneduce Vineyards’ focus is high quality dry wines, they have a large selection to suit every palate.

One of New Jersey’s newest wineries, Beneduce Vineyards is the joint effort of a young brother-sister team in their mid twenties.  The winemaker, Mike Beneduce Jr., graduated from Cornell’s esteemed winemaking program and focuses on producing high quality, aromatic varietals in a dry, food-friendly style.  With careful consideration of Hunterdon County’s unique soils and cooler climate, they cultivate Austrian and northern French grapes such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch.  His older sister Justen Beneduce Hiles, the property’s Events Director, studied Agricultural Science at Rutgers and plans activities such as their weekly “Group Therapy” happy hour. With a passionate and knowledgable staff behind the tasting bar, this young team is excited to share their love for wine with new and familiar faces as part of Vintage North Jersey.

beneduce_winery_nj_3Want to host your special event at the winery? Beneduce Vineyards offers many options, including the Tropical Oasis, which is an incredible converted greenhouse with a stone patio, antique bar, and fruit trees – and it’s heated so you can feel like you’re in paradise all year long!

Unionville Vineyards

Located on eighty-eight acres of preserved farmland in the heart of America’s Colonial Crescent, Unionville Vineyards offers breathtaking natural beauty, historic significance, and award-winning artisanal wines. The land of Unionville is a rich patchwork of American history; George Washington led his troops over much of this area and camped on the grounds that now nourish some of our finest vines. Just south of Unionville, he led the Colonial Army across the icy Delaware River and changed the course of history. As the new nation grew, our land became a renowned region for agriculture, boasting vast fruit orchards followed by dairy farms. Our first vines were planted in 1988 and Unionville first bottled our wines in 1992.

As the new nation grew, our land became a renowned region for agriculture, boasting vast fruit orchards followed by dairy farms. Our first vines were planted in 1988 and Unionville first bottled our wines in 1992.

Winemaker Cameron Stark spent his early career under the tutelage of Napa Valley wine experts perfecting his skills, and mastering his unique, creative style of winemaking. After spending over a decade making wine at Merryvale Vineyards and Robert Sinskey Cellars, he is now committed to crafting some of the finest wines America has to offer, here in New Jersey. With 54 acres of estate vineyards on five sites with unique terroir, he is constantly exploring to find and highlight what grapes should be grown on this land, as well as implementing the best methods and technique in the cellar to show off the character of the finest grapes the harvest provides. With such fruit in hand, Cameron creates magic in Unionville’s tanks and barrels resulting in wines that celebrate the region with delicious sophistication and individuality.

In 2012, Unionville Vineyards was awarded the Governor’s Cup for the best wine in the state, for the 2010 “Big O” Bordeaux-style blend. In 2010, Unionville’s Pheasant Hill Chardonnay was awarded “Gold Medal, Best in Class” by the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, the only domestic wine to achieve this recognition in any category. In the June 2012 “Judgement of Princeton,” the same wine took second place in a blind tasting of ten white wines from Burgundy and New Jersey. The event was spearheaded by the Society of Wine Educators, and included George Taber, the wine writer who was integral to the 1976 Judgment of Paris which established America’s wine legacy. The only competitor to top Unionville was an offering from Joseph Drouhin (FR), rated 93 points by Wine Advocate. International wine writer Stuart Pigott visited Unionville in Fall 2012 and had this to say about our wine:
“I haven’t tasted a new Chardonnay that had this concentration of fruit, this seamless elegance, subtle oak and an exciting whiff of funk in many years. $45 isn’t cheap, but it’s far removed from what good white Burgundy costs, Kistler or Marcassin charge for their high-end single-vineyard bottlings. Cameron has been at Unionville since 2003 and clearly has a great feeling for Chardonnay.”

As a beautiful private event site, picnic location, and music venue with a handsome tasting room and warm, gracious staff, Unionville Vineyards is always worth a visit.
